This World Book Day we were pleased to announce the release of another children’s book in our conservation series ‘The Zookeepers’ Quest’. This picture book not only highlights the issue of human-wildlife conflict but supports the Lake Kitwe Beekeepers Association, a fantastic project mitigating human-elephant conflict in Uganda. This incredible team of beekeepers have supplied villages throughout rural Uganda with equipment and training to utilise bee hives and their residents as a barrier between the forest and their farms, deterring the elephants from venturing on to their land. The support from the book has enabled this project to build more bee hives, pay their license, set up an apiary and provide uniforms for their executive committee.
