Tree guard removal and litter picking event

Over the first week in October, Wilder International collaborated with the Sutton Bonington Climate Crisis and Biodiversity Action group and the University of Nottingham to run three conservation events at the Diamond Jubilee Woodlands in Sutton Bonington, East Midlands.

The three events saw nearly 80 volunteers come together to remove, process and recycle around 3,000 tree guards that were degrading in the woodlands, causing plastic pollution and preventing healthy tree growth. These volunteers also used our litter picking equipment, generously funded by the AlpKit Foundation, to not only remove the smaller pieces of degraded tree guard but to do a general litter pick of the area supporting a healthy and safe woodland for wildlife and people.

We are so thankful to everyone who came to take part in the event and were so excited to see so many young people keen to contribute to these conservation efforts. We will be holding more of these events in the new year to continue these efforts within this area so watch this space!
