Lorraine was recently invited to be a guest speaker at the Indonesian small apes medicine seminar “Synergy for Indonesian small apes”. Organised by the Association of Indonesian Wildlife Aquatic and Exotic Animal Veterinarians and International Animal Rescue. This incredible learning opportunity brought together representatives from 12 different sanctuaries and conservation organisations, to discuss the essentials of conservation in Indonesian small apes with approaches to the five domains of animal welfare.
Lorraine spoke about the importance of appropriate species-specific nutrition in gibbons with capacity building information on such topics as nutrient requirements, browse provision and weight management.
