Wilder International director Dr Mat Liptovszky has been in Zambia this week attending the Pan African Sanctuary Alliance Veterinary Workshop. Veterinarians and animal managers from 15 sanctuaries working across Africa came together to share knowledge, network and support one another.
Mat presented topics such as great ape nutrition, the work of Wilder International and launched our digital ape nutrition courses. This is an important part of the process for designing and creating a truly beneficial learning resource for ape sanctuaries and rescue centres in Africa and Asia, as this process allows veterinarians and wildlife carers to access, work through the course and provide vital feedback that will enable us to make any changes to the programme.
Mat was also able to answer nutrition related queries and build relationships with representatives from ape sanctuaries that may need support in the future. And there was time to enjoy the beautiful Zambian landscapes and wildlife as well.
