Along with warmer weather and longer daylight hours comes the emergence of many species that
have been hunkering down over winter. In order to assess which species of reptile and amphibians are utilising our nature reserves, woodlands and green spaces it is often beneficial to conduct surveys throughout these key habitats in order to ascertain exact species living there, their population size and which areas they are inhabiting. This information can then be used to inform beneficial land management practices and contribute to wider conservation data.
Wilder International have begun their reptile and amphibian surveys by surveying spawn in Jubilee
woodland and wetland areas and laying reptile mats, which will bed down over the coming weeks so
we can get a closer look at the species using them. So, stay tuned for further updates of what we
find.
